Fr. Joseph Uecker, C.PP.S.

Fr. Joseph Uecker, C.PP.S. was born December 1, 1941 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He had two older brothers (both now deceased) and one younger sister. He was a member of Precious Blood Parish in Fort Wayne, staffed by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and Sisters of the Precious Blood. His uncle, Fr. Franz, was Fr. Mark’s pastor for a while.

Fr. Joe attended Brunnerdale High School Seminary in Canton, Ohio, St. Joseph’s College in Indiana and St. Charles Seminary in Ohio. He was ordained a priest June 1, 1968.

His first assignment was teaching at Precious Blood High School Seminary in Missouri. After one year he went to Mexico City to the Universidad de las Américas to study Spanish and business education. He then returned to Precious Blood Seminary until 1977.

He was then appointed pastor at St. Mary’s Parish in San Angelo until 1983 when he was sent to Rome to serve the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. In 1985 he returned to St. Mary’s in San Angelo until 1989. After a six-month sabbatical at the University of Notre Dame (during football season), he was appointed pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Sweetwater. In 1993 he was appointed pastor at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish in Abilene and in 1996 St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Abilene.

Fr. Joe spends free time learning about computers and writing music both in English and Spanish for the liturgy.

C.PP.S. stands for Congregatio Pretiosísimi Sanguinis. The English is Society of the Precious Blood.
